Lauren Du is the Senior Vice President, Controller of RXR where she heads up the Development and Construction Accounting division. Lauren has over 35 years of leadership experience in real estate accounting focus on matters related to development and construction cost accounting, SEC financial reporting, budget forecasting and planning as well as risk management, cash management, tax compliance, system implementation and internal control implementation.
Lauren joined RXR in January 2019 and has contributed significantly to the strength of the Development and Construction Accounting team. Lauren led the restructuring of the Accounting group and established sound systems and controls as well as stabilized the accounting infrastructure in the division. During this period, the company completed and in the process of completing over 3,200 of units of ground up multi-family residentials, over 1.5mm sf of logistic centers, $300 million of redevelopment of commercial office at 550 Madison. Lauren manages the accounting team of approximately 20 individuals to provide the development and construction accounting services to support the development of this group of projects.
Prior to joining RXR, Lauren was SVP and served as Controller of Forest City Ratner Companies, a subsidiary of Forest City Realty Trust from 1995 to 2018.
Over the two decades in Forest City, Lauren participated in and contributed to the significant growth of the company in creating its diversified real estate holding in New York. During this period, the company has developed 45 properties in the New York metropolitan area which encompasses 5.5 million square feet of Retail, over 4.5 million square feet of Office, approximately 1,000 Hotel keys, over 2,500 units of condominium and multifamily homes (including modular production) as well as the Barclays Center Arena and the Nassau Veteran Memorial Coliseum. Lauren and her team were responsible for all area of accounting for these wide range of classes of assets including financial accounting and reporting, cost accounting and cost control, cash management and accounts payable, forecasting and budgeting, risking management, tax planning and compliance. Lauren was also instrumental in the structuring and maintaining successful compliance of the complex and esoteric tax credit transactions in the Forest City projects, such as Brownfield tax credit, New Market Tax Credit and Low Income Housing Tax Credit.
Prior to Forest City, Lauren was a Manager at E&Y Kenneth Leventhal providing audit services to real estate clients. She is also a member of the AICPA, CGMA and NYS Society of CPA.
